Throughout September, team members from one of Eastern Green Link 1 (EGL1)’s principal contractors, METLEN Energy & Metals, visited schools across County Durham to support students as they prepare for life beyond the classroom.
The team delivered workshops in local academies to help Year 10 and 11 pupils develop practical skills for their future careers. These sessions included mock interviews, speed networking events, and information evenings for students and parents exploring post-16 options.
They also attended careers fairs, speaking with students and families about opportunities in engineering, construction and energy, and highlighting the wide range of roles available across these sectors.
This activity is part of EGL1’s wider commitment to supporting local schools and community initiatives in the areas where we work. Alongside the delivery of nationally significant energy infrastructure, we are providing meaningful support at a local level and leaving a lasting, positive legacy.
