The spirit of Christmas giving is shining bright thanks to EGL1 and its contractor Prysmian, who have channelled their social value commitment for the Eastern Green Link 1 (EGL1) project into a festive donation drive supporting County Durham and Sunderland Foodbank, which is run by Durham Christian Partnership.
EGL1, along with contractor Prysmian and supply chain partner PBU, rallied their teams to collect a generous haul of food and essential items, ensuring a little extra warmth and cheer reaches those needing support in the County Durham communities this Christmas.
The donation drive focused on spreading joy, resulting in a fantastic collection of 72 individual items totalling almost 12 kg. Staff members embraced the holiday spirit contributing everything from chocolate coins and selection boxes to toothbrushes and biscuits. In addition to the items, the team made direct financial donations to the foodbanks, bringing the total combined value of all donations (items and cash) to more than £1,100.
It was a true team effort, demonstrating how collaboration extends beyond infrastructure to community support. The combined donations are a heartwarming example of businesses making a real difference in the areas where they operate.
Alberto Pirovano, Prysmian Project Director, shared his enthusiasm for the initiative:
