On Wednesday 12 November, METLEN Energy & Metals Community Liaison Manager Duncan Bennett and Community Liaison Apprentice Enxi Wu represented the Eastern Green Link 1 (EGL1) project at the King James I Academy Careers Fair in Bishop Auckland.
The event brought together representatives from a wide range of sectors including healthcare, engineering, the armed forces, animal care, beauty, construction, and banking giving students from every year group an hour to explore exciting career opportunities.
Our team enjoyed introducing young people to EGL1 and explaining the vital role this project will play in delivering a cleaner, more affordable energy future. They shared insights into the diverse range of roles required to make EGL1 a success, from engineering and project management to community engagement and environmental planning.
It was fantastic to see the enthusiasm from students as they learned about the opportunities available within the energy sector and how they could be part of shaping a Net Zero future.
We look forward to continuing these conversations at future events and strengthening our connections with communities across the regions where we work.
